Bridge the Gap Between Patients’ Needs and Hospital Budgets

Interviewer: “Can you explain how hospitals make purchase decisions concerning equipment and software?”
Badgett: “Hospitals have to (1)amortize and/or depreciate everything they purchase, and every hospital is different in how they handle that. Hospitals are continually buying equipment for different units. For example, Unit One’s amortization could happen in seven years, but Unit Two’s amortization may not happen for another seven years after the five years of amortization has happened for Unit One.”

Interviewer: “What can Aionex do to help hospitals serve patients for the best outcomes?”
Badgett: “We can go in and provide just our software portion, or if they have a piece or pieces that are not working for them, we can provide custom options for their existing software systems. We can provide more immediate solutions with much less expense for a cohesive system. If they don’t have a bed board system, we can provide that piece; if they don’t have EVS (Environmental Services) software, we can provide just that.”
Interviewer: “Does it matter what server platform(s) a hospital is using with its current systems?”
Badgett: “No, it doesn't matter. What we try to do is write all of our software on Linux OS, which is very secure and does not have server charges that are hidden. Hospitals can still use any computer to access the Aionex software. With our software, we can allow access to the specific Aionex services the hospital has purchased. They just log into the system and use it.”
Interviewer: “What savings is this for hospitals?"
Badgett: “I don’t have an exact number as to what the savings would be, but we offer one of two options: We can do a flat-rate, annual fee. Or, if a hospital is going to use Aionex software services, and let’s say it has 100 beds, then we can base the cost on the price of the beds. So if you utilize “X” service, we could charge a fee per bed for your hospital — whatever we negotiate as a monthly subscription fee.”
Interviewer: “Is there an advantage for a hospital choosing a subscription-based model over a flat-fee?”
Badgett: “The reason we provide the option is that, for example, if it’s a (2)sunk cost of $100,000 or more, if we charge them an annual fee, board approval might be needed for that. If we do the monthly subscription fee, hospitals may not need board approval. Every hospital is different.”
Interviewer: “What is an estimated time frame for custom Aionex software installation?”
Badgett: “Installation time frames for Aionex custom software depends on the circumstances and variables for each hospital. We have to look at implementing 3rd-party equipment, number of units, and total number of beds, but hospitals should consider at least three to four months for server setup, installation, testing and training of hospital staff.”
Interviewer: “What is the percentage of the hospitals you work with that have taken advantage of the adaptability of Aionex software options?”
Badgett: “Probably 50/50. Obviously, there’s the hardware side of what we do in conjunction with our software. But if a hospital doesn’t want the hardware, we can provide software only, and that includes Environmental Services, Bed Board, Nursing Requests. They’re still using the hardware they had in place and then using Aionex software to bridge the gap between patients' needs and hospital budgets."
